Float, sink, or stay suspended?

Compare the block and the liquid

Teaching this? Open projector mode

Water pushes upward on a submerged object because pressure is greater at its bottom than its top. Compare the block’s average density with the liquid’s density: a less dense block can float; an equally dense block can stay submerged; a denser block sinks until the floor supports it.
