Free Fall

How gravity speeds a falling ball

Teaching this? Open projector mode

In this ideal model, an object in free fall near Earth accelerates downward at g ≈ 9.8 m/s²: we neglect air resistance and changes in gravity with height. Released from rest, it gains another 9.8 m/s of downward speed each second.
