Polarity — Every battery and LED has a + side and a - side. Match + to + and - to - for the circuit to work.
Circuit — A complete loop where electricity flows from the battery, through the parts, and back to the battery.
+ and - — The two sides of a battery. + (plus) is positive, - (minus) is negative. Current flows from + through your circuit and returns to -.
Switch — A part that opens or closes the road for electricity. Open = no flow. Closed = flow!
Open / Closed — An open switch breaks the circuit. A closed switch completes it.
Parallel — When multiple parts each have their own road back to the battery. They all work independently.
Momentary — A button is momentary — it only lets current pass while you hold it down.
Resistor — A part that limits current. It can protect an LED from too much current.
Current — The flow of electricity through a circuit. Measured in Amps.
RGB — Red, Green, Blue — three light colors that mix to make many colors, including white.
Primary colors — Red, Green, Blue. Mix them in different amounts to make any color a screen can show.
Cathode — The negative leg of a diode (like an LED). It connects to the battery's - side.
Load — A part that receives electrical energy, such as an LED, buzzer or motor. A wire directly across a battery makes a short circuit; an open loop carries no current.
